California EEO, Harassment and Retaliation Prevention: Handbook Statements Added and Removed
Author: Melissa Gonzalez Boyce, XpertHR Legal Editor
The Fair Employment and Housing Council adopted significant amendments to its Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA) regulations, effective April 1, 2016. Among other things, the regulations require employers to develop and distribute written discrimination, harassment and retaliation prevention policies that meet specific requirements and must be distributed to employees. Because the new regulations contemplate a unified discrimination, harassment and retaliation prevention policy that meets specific requirements, including with regard to the complaint procedure, we have added the following two statements:
- Discrimination, Harassment and Retaliation Prevention Handbook Statement [5+ Employees]: California
- Harassment and Retaliation Prevention Handbook Statement [1-4 Employees]: California
Since XpertHR has combined these policies into two new handbook statements, the Equal Employment Opportunity Handbook Statement [5+ Employees], the Sexual Harassment Handbook Statement [5+ Employees] and the Sexual and Other Unlawful Harassment [5+ Employees] have been removed from the California handbook. Accordingly, the California table of contents has been updated.
