California Expands Retaliation Protections to Disability and Religious Accommodation Requests: Employment Law Manual Updated, Legal Timetable Entry Added

California's Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA) requires an employer to reasonably accommodate an individual's disability or religious beliefs. The law also prohibits an employer from retaliating against a person for filing a complaint or opposing a practice forbidden under the FEHA. Effective January 1, 2016, the FEHA will also prohibit retaliation against a person for requesting a reasonable accommodation, regardless of whether the accommodation was granted.

In light of this development, the following California sections of the Employment Law Manual have been updated:
