California Family Rights Act Regulations Amended: Employment Law Manual Updated

California's Department of Fair Employment and Housing has finalized amendments to the California Family Rights Act (CFRA) administrative regulations. The amended regulations will take effect July 1, 2015. Changes include:

  • Updated definitions of covered employer and eligible employee;
  • New regulations regarding an employee's rights upon return from leave;
  • Updated regulations regarding a key employee's reinstatement rights;
  • Clarification of the relationship between CFRA leave and pregnancy disability leave; and
  • Updated notice and posting requirements.

In light of these amendments, the California FMLA section of the Employment Law Manual has been updated and a Legal Timetable entry has been added.
