Content Added, Updated to Reflect New York Independent Contractor Law

The recent signing of the New York State Commercial Goods Transportation Industry Fair Play Act has resulted in a new entry in the Legal Timetable and an update to the Independent Contractors: New York section of the Employment Law Manual.

Effective March 11, 2014, the new law will establish a presumption that drivers transporting commercial goods in New York are employees, not independent contractors, unless certain strict criteria are met.
