Develop a Succession Planning Process: Forms, Checklist Added

Succession planning allows an organization to groom strong internal candidates for leadership positions within the organization - but HR should ensure that there is sufficient buy-in within the organization to move forward with the process. Three resources have been added to assist an employer that is considering implementing this talent-management practice.

The Succession Planning Assessment and Readiness Survey Form should be used when an employer is considering implementing a structured succession-planning process.

The Succession Planning Checklist assists an employer in addressing the key questions and issues related to succession planning.

Finally, the Model Succession Plan Form can be used to document a proposed succession-planning process for senior management and, if relevant, Board of Director approval.
