The Protecting Pregnant Workers Fairness Act of 2014 requires an employer to provide reasonable accommodations for workers whose ability to perform the functions of their job is limited by pregnancy, childbirth, a related medical condition or breastfeeding. The law took effect March 3, 2015.
Based on this development, a new policy statement has been added to the Employee Handbooks tool and the following District of Columbia Employment Law Manual sections have been updated:
- EEO - Discrimination;
- Employee Handbooks - Work Rules - Employee Conduct;
- Disabilities (ADA);
- Other Leaves;
- FMLA;
- New Hire Paperwork;
- Employee Discipline; and
- Employee Communications.
A Legal Timetable entry has also been added.
