Emergency Responder Leave: Handbook Statement Added

Rhode Island has passed a new law that provides a leave of absence for volunteer emergency responders. Under this law, an employee may take unpaid leave to respond to an emergency in his or her capacity as a volunteer member of a fire or ambulance department. This leave also requires an employer to reinstate an employee who was terminated or disciplined for properly taking or requesting such leave.

As a result of this legal development, the Emergency Responder Leave Handbook Statement: Rhode Island has been added and the Rhode Island Supplement: Table of Contents has been updated.
