Eugene, Oregon Passes Paid Sick Leave Ordinance: Employment Law Manual, Chart Updated; Legal Timetable Added

On July 28, the Eugene City Council voted to pass a paid sick leave ordinance, which takes effect July 1, 2015. The law applies to all employers with employees working within the City of Eugene.

Starting July 1, 2015, all employees working in Eugene may begin accruing paid sick leave at a rate of one leave hour for every 30 hours worked, up to 40 leave hours per year. Employees may begin using their accrued sick leave after 90 days.

In light of this new law, the Oregon sections of Other Leaves and FMLA, as well as the Quick Reference Paid Sick Leave - Chart, have been updated. Plus, a Legal Timetable entry has been added.
