Florida Court Strikes Down Same-Sex Marriage Ban: Employment Law Manual Updated

On August 21, 2014, a federal court in Florida ruled that the state's statute and constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage violate the US Constitution's due process and equal protection clauses. The court also stayed the enforcement of the ruling, so the state will not perform same-sex marriages until the matter is decided on appeal.

In light of this development, the following Florida sections of the Employment Law Manual have been updated: FMLA and Health Care Benefits.
