Indiana Amends Unemployment Insurance Law: Employment Law Manual Updated, Legal Timetable Entry Added

Indiana has amended its unemployment insurance law to provide four years for the Department of Workforce Development (DWD) to establish that a benefits overpayment occurred. In addition, the DWD may recoup an overpayment by requiring an employer to withhold amounts from an employee's income. The amended law further prohibits an employer from refusing to hire, terminating or disciplining an employee due to income withholding. These amendments will take effect July 1, 2015.
