Kansas Lowers Maximum Weekly Unemployment Benefits: Employment Law Manual Updated, Legal Timetable Added

Authors: Michael Jacobson and Tracy Morley, XpertHR Legal Editors

Kansas has amended how the maximum weekly unemployment benefits amount is calculated, effective for claims beginning on or after July 1, 2015. The maximum amount will change from 60 percent to 55 percent of the average weekly wages paid to employees in insured work during the previous calendar year.

In light of this development, the Kansas Legally Required Benefits and Involuntary Terminations sections of the Employment Law Manual have been updated and a Legal Timetable entry has been added.
