Las Cruces, NM, Adopts Minimum Wage Ordinance: Employment Law Manual Updated

UPDATE: The Las Cruces City Council on December 1 passed an ordinance that delays the effective date of the minimum wage increases.

The Las Cruces, NM, City Council on September 8 passed a new minimum wage ordinance.

Effective January 1, 2015, an employer that has one or more employees in the City of Las Cruces or that has contracts with the city for $30,000 or more must pay nonexempt employees a minimum wage of $8.40 per hour. The minimum wage will increase to $9.20 per hour on January 1, 2016, and to $10.10 per hour on January 1, 2017.
