Michigan to Permit Child Support Withholding Fees

The Payroll chapter of XpertHR's Involuntary and Voluntary Pay Deductions section has been updated to reflect a new Michigan law that, effective March 28, 2013, allows employers to charge employees a fee for processing income withholding orders for child support subject to certain limitations. Current law allows employers to charge a fee only if they have employees' written consent.
