Minnesota Legalizes Medical Marijuana: Employment Law Manual and Chart Updated

Minnesota has become the 22nd state to legalize medical marijuana use for certain qualifying medical conditions. Under this law, a registered patient may provide verification of his or her enrollment in the qualifying patient registry as part of an explanation for a failed drug test. Smoking marijuana for any reason remains illegal, but patients will be access it in pill, oil or vapor forms.
The following state sections of the Employment Law Manual have been updated to reflect this development:
- Recruiting and Hiring: Preemployment Screening and Testing: Minnesota;
- Employee Management: Disabilities (ADA): Minnesota; and
- Employee Management: Employee Privacy: Minnesota.
