Missouri Minimum Wage to Hold Steady for 2016: Chart, Employment Law Manual Updated

Author: Michael Cardman, XpertHR Legal Editor

Missouri recently announced that its minimum wage will remain $7.65 per hour for 2016.

Missouri adjusts its minimum wage for inflation on January 1 of each year by the percentage increase or decrease in the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) during the 12 months preceding the previous July, rounded to the nearest five cents. Because the rate of inflation between July 2014 and July 2015 was effectively zero, Missouri's minimum wage will hold steady until at least January 2017.

As a result of this development, the Minimum Wage Rates by State and Municipality chart and the Minimum Wage: Missouri section of the Employment Law Manual have been updated.
