Nevada's Minimum Wage to Remain Unchanged for 2015: Chart, Legal Timetable Updated

Author: Michael Cardman, XpertHR Legal Editor

The minimum wage rate in Nevada will remain the same this year, the state labor commissioner announced in a press release dated March 31.

Nevada employers that offer qualifying health benefits must continue to pay nonexempt employees at least $7.25 per hour. All other Nevada employers must continue to pay nonexempt employees at least $8.25 per hour.

Nevada's state constitution requires the state's minimum wage to keep pace with either the increase in the federal minimum wage over its 2004 rate of $5.15 per hour or with the cumulative increase in the cost of living since 2004, whichever is greater. Although the cost of living has increased since 2004, it has not outpaced the $2.10 increase in the federal minimum wage. Therefore, Nevada's minimum wage will remain unchanged for at least one more year.

Both the Minimum Wage Rates by State and Municipality chart and the Legal Timetable have been updated to reflect the announcement.
