Effective January 1, 2015, a new California law will amend the Fair Employment and Housing Act and the Unruh Civil Rights Act to prohibit employers from discriminating against an employee or applicant based on their possession, or presentation of a California driver's license issued to an individual who cannot provide documentation of lawful presence in the United States. The law also contains privacy provisions.

In light of these developments, the California EEO - Discrimination, Employee Privacy, Immigration, Form I-9 and Work Visas and Terms of Employment sections of the Employment Law Manual have been updated.
