New California Paid Sick Leave Amendments Effective Immediately: Employment Law Manual Updated

On July 13, California passed urgency amendments to its paid sick leave law that took effect immediately. The amendments make clarifications regarding:
- Existing paid leave plans;
- Employee eligibility;
- Sick leave accrual;
- Sick leave use;
- Reinstatement of sick time upon rehire;
- Notice and recordkeeping requirements; and
- Rate of pay calculations.
In light of these amendments, the following California sections of the Employment Law Manual have been updated:
- Other Leaves;
- FMLA; and
- Payment of Wages.
