New California Paid Sick Leave Amendments Effective Immediately: Employment Law Manual Updated

On July 13, California passed urgency amendments to its paid sick leave law that took effect immediately. The amendments make clarifications regarding:

  • Existing paid leave plans;
  • Employee eligibility;
  • Sick leave accrual;
  • Sick leave use;
  • Reinstatement of sick time upon rehire;
  • Notice and recordkeeping requirements; and
  • Rate of pay calculations.

In light of these amendments, the following California sections of the Employment Law Manual have been updated:
