New Content Added on Unpaid Internships

Author: Michael Cardman, XpertHR Legal Editor

As the school year draws to a close, XpertHR has added new content to guide employers that are considering offering unpaid internships. XpertHR now includes a Legal Insight on Unpaid Interns and Trainees Under the FLSA, which explores the legal standard used to determine if an intern is actually an employee under the Fair Labor Standards Act, thereby entitling him or her to minimum wage and overtime. Also, XpertHR's How to Structure an Unpaid Internship or Training Program offers practical steps for employers so that they avoid creating an employer-employee relationship with interns.
