New Jersey Appellate Court Ruling on Contract Waivers: Employment Law Manual Sections Updated

In Rodriguez v. Raymours Furniture Co., a New Jersey appellate court held that a contractual provision shortening the length of time during which an employee may file any claim or lawsuit relating to his or her employment is enforceable. In order to be enforceable,such provisions must be clear in their terms, conspicuously placed in the application form, reasonable and not contrary to any public policy.

As a result of this decision, the following New Jersey sections of the Employment Law Manual were updated:
