New Jersey: Paid Sick Leave Ordinance Effective in Newark

Effective May 29, 2014, or upon the expiration of a current collective bargaining agreement (if applicable), whichever is later, a new ordinance will require a private employer in Newark, NJ, to provide an eligible employee with paid sick leave. The ordinance also imposes notification requirements for both an employer and employee. As a result, the following content has been updated to reflect this new development:
