New Jersey's Minimum Wage to Remain $8.38 for 2016: Chart, Employment Law Manual Updated

The New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development on September 21 announced that the state's minimum wage rate will remain at $8.38 for 2016. New Jersey law requires that the minimum wage rate be adjusted annually for inflation, based on the change (if any) in the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers between August of two years prior and August of the prior year. The rate of inflation was effectively zero between August 2014 and August 2015, so New Jersey's minimum wage will not change.

As a result of this development, the Minimum Wage Rates by State and Municipality chart and the Minimum Wage: New Jersey section of the Employment Law Manual have been updated.
