New Oregon Sick Leave Rules: Handbook Statements Updated

Oregon has published new administrative rules to implement the Oregon Sick Leave Law, which took effect January 1, 2016. Among other things, the rules provide a definition for spouse and expand those for child and parent; allow an employer to refuse payment for sick time unless documentation or verification is provided by the employee; and provide guidance on how to determine accrual for employees whose hours are not tracked.
As a result of this development, the following Oregon handbook statements have been updated:
