Effective January 1, 2016, the minimum wage in Oakland, California, will increase by 30 cents, from $12.25 per hour to $12.55 per hour.

Oakland's minimum wage is adjusted for inflation each year, as measured by the change in the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers in the San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose metropolitan statistical area during the 12 months preceding the previous August.

As a result of this development, the Minimum Wage Rates by State and Municipality chart and the Minimum Wage: California section of the Employment Law Manual have been updated. In addition, a new entry has been added to the Legal Timetable.
