Ohio's Minimum Wage to Remain $8.10 for 2016: Chart, Employment Law Manual Updated

The Ohio Department of Commerce on September 25 announced that the state's minimum wage rate will remain at $8.10 for 2016.

Ohio's Constitution requires that the state minimum wage rate be adjusted for inflation every January 1 based on the change (if any) in the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers between September of two years prior and September of the prior year. The next inflation adjustment will not take place until January 1, 2017, because the rate of inflation was negative between September 2014 and September 2015.

As a result of this development, the Minimum Wage Rates by State and Municipality chart and the Minimum Wage: Ohio section of the Employment Law Manual have been updated.
