Author: Melissa Gonzalez Boyce, XpertHR Legal Editor

Effective November 1, 2015, Oklahoma drivers are prohibited from using a handheld electronic communication device to manually compose, send or read an electronic text message while operating a motor vehicle. The law also prohibits commercial drivers from using a handheld mobile telephone while operating a commercial motor vehicle.

As a result of this legal development, the Cell Phone Use/Texting While Driving Handbook Statement: Oklahoma has been updated.
