Oregon Law Will Reduce Duration of Noncompete Agreements: Employment Law Manual Updated, Legal Timetable Entry Added

Oregon has passed a law reducing the enforceable term of a noncompetition agreement from two years to 18 months from the date of the employee's termination. The law takes effect January 1, 2016, and will apply to noncompetition agreements entered on or after that date.

As a result of this development, the Oregon Terms of Employment, Employee Communications and Employee Discipline sections of the Employment Law Manual have been updated. A Legal Timetable entry has also been added.
