The Pennsylvania EEO - Discrimination, EEO - Harassment, Disabilities (ADA), New Hire Paperwork and Employee Communications sections of the Employment Law Manual and the EEO Protected Classes by State and Municipality chart have been updated to reflect the recent amendment to the Philadelphia Fair Practices Ordinance that prohibits discrimination based on pregnancy, childbirth and related medical conditions. This amendment also requires employers to provide reasonable accommodations to pregnant employees.

In addition, the amendment requires employers to provide written notice about the right of employees to be free from pregnancy discrimination and the right to request reasonable accommodations based on pregnancy. Employers are encouraged to post a notice within 90 days of the ordinance's effective date, which was January 20, 2014.
