Philadelphia Adds Sick Leave Law: Handbook Statements Added

Authors: Melissa Burdorf and Tracy Morley, XpertHR Legal Editors

Under Philadelphia's Promoting Healthy Families and Workplaces ordinance, employers with 10 or more employees (and chain establishments) must provide paid sick leave to employees, and employers with fewer than 10 employees (excluding chain establishments) must provide employees with unpaid sick leave. The new ordinance is effective May 13, 2015.

In light of this law, a Paid Sick Time Handbook Statement [10+ Employees; Employees Working in Chain Establishments] Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and a Sick Time Handbook Statement [1-9 Employees, Excluding Chain Establishments] Philadelphia, Pennsylvania have been added to the Employee Handbooks tool. The Pennsylvania Supplement: Table of Contents has also been updated.
