In a wide-ranging interview, EEOC General Counsel David Lopez discussed some of the leading litigation trends at the Commission along with the biggest mistakes he sees employers making.

Despite the issue having received a good deal of publicity over the years, Lopez said some egregious racial harassment cases are continuing to arise. "It's really unacceptable to be here in the 21st century dealing with cases involving nooses, racial slurs and references to the Klan." Trends involving national origin discrimination and mental disability cases also are addressed.

In addition, Lopez touched on the EEOC's systemic discrimination initiative which is geared at protecting the most vulnerable populations.
