Seattle Taxi and For-Hire Drivers Allowed to Unionize: Employment Law Manual Updated

Seattle passed an ordinance that allows drivers of taxicab companies and for-hire drivers of companies such as Uber and Lyft to unionize and bargain over terms and conditions of employment, including the nature and amount of payments, hours worked and vehicle safety standards. The ordinance takes effect Winter 2016.
The following Washington sections of the Employment Law Manual have been updated in light of this new ordinance:

- Employee Discipline;
- HR and Workplace Safety;
- Terms of Employment; and
- Union Organization and Labor Relations.
