Effective December 3, 2014, Texas state agencies are required to use the federal E-Verify system to confirm the work eligibility of current and prospective employees. Also, new E-Verify requirements are mandated for businesses contracting with a state agency, as well as their subcontractors.

As a result of this development, the Texas Immigration, Form I-9 and Work Visas and Preemployment Screening and Testing sections of the Employment Law Manual have been updated. The E-Verify Laws by State chart has also been updated.
