Wisconsin Bone Marrow or Organ Donor Leave: Handbook Statement Added

Author: Melissa Gonzalez Boyce, XpertHR Legal Editor

Effective July 1, 2016, Wisconsin employers with 50 or more employees must provide up to a six weeks of leave in a 12-month period for bone marrow or organ donation. An eligible employee is one who has worked for the employer for more than 52 consecutive weeks and for at least 1,000 hours during the preceding 52-week period. The employee must use unpaid leave or substitute any paid leave he or she may have.

As a result of this development, the Bone Marrow or Organ Donor Handbook Statement: Wisconsin has been added to the Wisconsin handbook and the table of contents has been updated.
