Meal and Rest Breaks Handbook Statement: Colorado

Nonexempt employees who work five or more consecutive hours will be provided at least one 30-minute meal break. To the extent practical, meal breaks will be provided at least one hour after the start and one hour before the end of the employee's shift. During the break employees will be relieved of all duties. An uninterrupted 30-minute meal break will be unpaid for nonexempt employees. If the nature of an employee's job or circumstances makes an uninterrupted meal break impracticable, the employee will be allowed an on-duty meal break without any loss of time or compensation.
