Summary

  • Covered employers must provide unpaid meal breaks and paid rest breaks when employees work a certain amount of time. Employers also must provide breastfeeding breaks to nursing mothers. See Break Periods.
  • Travel time controlled or directed by an employer will usually count as hours worked. See Travel Time.
  • Sleeping time may be excluded from compensable work time under certain conditions. See Sleeping Time.
