How is tax deposit frequency determined?

Author: Ryan F. Donovan

The primary factor in determining when deposits are due is the amount of annual deposits the employer makes. If the employer is an established one, prior years are typically reviewed to help determine the frequency for future years. If the employer is newly in existence, a default frequency is typically assigned. Depositing large amounts will usually accelerate when the deposit is due. Federal tax deposits over $100,000 are always due the next business day.
