May an employer dock a salaried employee's pay if the employee shows up late or leaves early?
Author: Michael Cardman, XpertHR Legal Editor
Docking a salaried employee's pay for an absence of less than a full day would violate the salary basis test of the Fair Labor Standards Act, causing the employee to lose his or her exemption from the law's minimum wage and overtime requirements.
However, salaried employees may be subject to other disciplinary actions. See Employee Management > Employee Discipline.
