What is salting by a union organization?

Salting refers to the union organizing tactic of dispatching a union member to apply for employment at a workplace that the union has targeted for an organizing campaign. Once employed, the salt will begin to educate and solicit union participation from the employees. If the employer discovers these activities and takes adverse action against the salt, the union will typically file charges with the National Labor Relations Board.
