The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), more commonly known as the Affordable Care Act (ACA) or Health Care Reform, was enacted in an effort to expand health care coverage, control health care costs and improve how health care services are delivered.
The ACA is one of the most significant workplace laws of the last couple of decades. Adding to the law's complexity are the ever-changing requirements to the employer shared responsibility rules.
