In Chevron U.S.A., Inc. v. Echazabal, 536 U.S. 73 (2002), the Supreme Court addressed whether an employer discriminated against a job applicant who had Hepatitis C. Although the applicant had worked on the company's premises as a contractor for 20 years, the employer refused to hire him for a full-time position based on a belief that chemicals in its refinery could aggravate his condition.
