District of Columbia Prohibits Credit Checks for Employment Purposes

Effective April 7, 2017, the District of Columbia prohibits employers from inquiring about a job applicant's or employee's credit history, and from making any employment decisions based on that information. The Fair Credit in Employment Amendment Act of 2016 applies to all employers regardless of size, as well as employment agencies and labor organizations. +64 D.C. Reg. 2045.
