Ignacio García is a local partner at Baker & McKenzie Ltd and has extensive experience in the areas of: general corporate law; foreign investment; labour and employment advice; international commercial and trade law; and customs law. He is the coordinator of the Chilean Labour and Employment Practice Group.
Mr. Garcia is a member of the Chilean Bar Association and a board member of the Chilean International Law Society. Further, he is a member of the Commission for Customs and International Trade of the International Chamber of Commerce (Chilean Chapter) representing the Catholic University of Santiago Law School.
Mr. Garcia obtained his degree at the Catholic University of Santiago Law School in 1993. He won a scholarship from the Hanns-Seidel Stiftung to study at the law school of the Ruprecht-Karls Universität, in Heidelberg, Germany, where he obtained an LLM in 1998, with a specialization in international law.
Mr. Garcia is a professor of international private law at the Catholic University and Universidad de Los Andes law schools, as well as the chairman of the International Trade Centre at the Catholic University, and is a frequent teacher and panellist on several Chilean post-graduate courses.
He speaks Spanish, English and German.
