Mr. Newman concentrates his practice on labor and employment litigation, counseling and training.
He is also editor-in-chief of the firm's Legal Updates.
Mr. Newman has significant experience under the NLRA, Railway Labor Act, and Federal Service Labor-Management Relations Statute.
He has successfully represented clients before the NLRB, National Mediation Board, Surface Transportation Board, and other federal agencies.
Mr. Newman has negotiated collective bargaining agreements and represented management in numerous labor arbitrations, and trained and assisted employers in union avoidance.
His significant labor experience covers healthcare, transportation, and other industries.
Mr. Newman has represented clients in numerous state and federal courts, before the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination, in various other quasi-judicial proceedings, and in arbitrations under the auspices of such groups as the National Association of Securities Dealers.
His cases have involved issues such as partnership, fiduciary duty, trade secrets, enforcement of noncompetition agreements, classification of workers as employees and independent contractors, payment of wages, and employment discrimination.
Mr. Newman also has significant experience in defending class-action lawsuits.
Prior to entering the legal profession, he provided public-relations, marketing-communications and crisis-communications services to independent schools and colleges.
