Conduct an Exit Interview

  • When an employee resigns, retires or otherwise leaves the organization, conduct an exit interview in order to collect valuable information regarding that employee's experience in the workplace.
  • Exit interviews should cover many facets of the workplace experience including the effectiveness of company leadership hierarchies, company waste or inefficiency, and legal or regulatory compliance.
  • Take time to explain the exit interview process and procedure to departing employees. If departing employees are unwilling to participate in a face-to-face interview, employers may consider providing written questionnaires to them.
