Handle a Workplace Accident
- It is important for employers to have an effective accident resolution and investigation policy in place for when an accident occurs in the workplace.
- A good accident resolution program will be able to quickly, but accurately, identify the root causes of an accident and be able to use that knowledge to be able to stop similar events from happening in the future.
- OSHA requires employers to keep certain records relating to injuries that an employee received at work as well to report any deaths or catastrophes, which results when three or more employees are hospitalized.
- Employers should be prepared to remove an employee who has been in an accident to a safe location and to administer basic medical care until the employee can be removed to a doctor. The employer should also be prepared to handle an employee's onsite death.
