When to Use

Technology in the workplace has enhanced both employer and employee efficiency and communication. However, technology has also opened the door to a number of issues for employers, ranging from harassment and discrimination concerns to the security of confidential and proprietary information.

An employer should consider implementing a policy to address appropriate employee use of employer-provided communication and information systems, to clearly communicate its policy on monitoring, and to manage employee expectations of privacy.
