When to Use
Aligning the HR department strategy with the business strategy is critical to achieving an organization's mission. Aligning strategies requires HR to:
- Understand the business strategy;
- Assess current conditions;
- Plan and implement the HR strategy; and
- Measure and evaluate results and adjust as needed.
Communication within the HR department and with leaders of the other business functions is key to accomplishing these steps.
This checklist can assist an HR professional in aligning strategies. Employers do not have to complete the following steps in sequential order to properly complete the checklist; many can be done concurrently.
