Coronavirus (COVID-19): WARN Implications for Layoffs and Furloughs

Employers confronting the need for mass layoffs and plant closures as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic must consider whether the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act applies to those layoffs and, if it does, must provide the required WARN notices.

Fortunately, there are exceptions to the federal WARN Act that apply to the extraordinary circumstances that many businesses are facing as a result of the COVID-19 emergency.
