Massachusetts Requirements Complete

XpertHR is on track to have all 50 states and Washington DC by the end of July. We are completing states on a rolling basis until then and are now up to 19 states, with the completion of four states last week.

Our Massachusetts Employment Law Coverage

XpertHR covers the complete spectrum of labor and employment law for Massachusetts employers. For example, did you know:

  • Massachusetts' new Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) law requires that certain employers, including those that work with the elderly, disabled, children or other vulnerable populations (such as nursing homes, schools, camps, hospitals, preschools, transportation companies and government agencies serving these populations), must obtain CORI reports on applicants, employees and volunteers who will have direct, unsupervised contact with those persons. Employers that conduct criminal background investigations five or more times per year must have a CORI policy under Massachusetts law. XpertHR has included a CORI policy for our Massachusetts subscribers and has a podcast interview with two of our Massachusetts author firms about this challenging new law.
  • As of July 1, 2012, the Transgender Equal Rights Bill takes effect in Massachusetts. This adds anti-discrimination protection for transgendered individuals in employment (as well as housing, lending, credit and education, based on gender identity).
  • All employers of six or more employees in Massachusetts are required to provide new employees with a copy of the employer's sexual harassment policy upon commencement of employment.
  • Massachusetts has its own version of WARN, which covers employers with 50 or more employees, a substantially lower threshold than federal WARN.

This is but a taste of the depth and breadth provided to our Massachusetts subscribers!
