Paid Family Leave Handbook Statement: District of Columbia

In accordance with the District of Columbia's Universal Paid Leave Amendment Act of 2016 (UPLAA), eligible employees are entitled to paid leave benefits (DCPFL) for parental leave to bond with a new child, family leave to care for an ill family member with a serious health condition or medical leave to care for the employee's own serious health condition. DCPFL includes partial wage replacement benefits that are provided through a Universal Paid Leave Implementation Fund administered by the District of Columbia's Department of Employment Services (DOES), Office of Paid Family Leave (OPFL).
